I gasped when I first pushed the door and beheld a vast lobby centered with numerous Victorian furniture. This is a hotel with a grand history, and albeit slightly aged, still maintained her dignity and charm. The room was enormous, and I have never seen such a humongous bed! I told my son he could have swum laps in it. I slept like a baby. Those black out curtains really work, and the floors were clean...the throws were folded into bows on the bed. Even toiletry holders were so handsome I took pictures of them. Felt really pampered for the price. The staff were so kind, especially one particular gentleman. He's always swift to help me out when I struggle with my luggage near the stairs. Unlike a particular home stay that I tried earlier, no cab had a problem locating me here. There is a Chinese restaurant that serves dim sum buffet at a really affordable price. And *no mosquitoes nor ants, which is a plus in Chiang Mai. Kudos to the management for such painstaking maintenance of the place.

Perfect location, a few minutes walk from the Maya Shopping Center and close to lots of coffee shops. The hotel looks as if it has had better days as it's a bit shabby now, but it has lots of period character. The room was very big and comfortable, and the facilities adequate. I liked the gym, which had plenty of equipment and was well maintained. The manager was very friendly and helpful. The big shopping center next door has closed down, which makes the hotel less attractive, but for me it was all I needed.

Location was pretty good with many restaurants, cafes and other shops a short walk away. Maya Shopping Plaza was a 10 minutes 1km walk which was fairly easy. Baht buses and tuk tuks readily available and we were able to get most places around town for 30 baht each which is like $1.50 AUD each. Front desk staff were great although finding someone to understand English at times very challenging. Room size was great and bed was super comfy.

Entrance hall - Felt fancy. Piano and a few fish made a nice atmosphere. Location - It was near the main centre of Chiang Mai. You do need a taxi to get to the south night markets but they are cheap. Gym and Swimming pool - Very large and there is a staff member to help you with the weights...I mean to give you a towel. Room - large with good insulation. Not hot or too cold.

Location is awesome. Near to the old city but away from the hustle and bustle. It is a older hotel so don't expect W or Movenpick BUT for the price, it is awesome. Usable swimming pool and good dim sum buffet dinner. Hot water, clean sheets and aircon in a huge room (old style hotel)... nothing much to ask for more for under THB1,000 per night.
